Community Food Pantry

The Community Food Pantry is a long-standing joint ministry between Fairgrove, Friendship, and Brown Summit United Methodist churches. Inspired by God’s love and compassion, the three churches join hands to collect both food donations and monetary contributions. These blessings allow us to offer a helping hand to our local neighbors in need, free of charge.

Dedicated volunteers from all three churches work together to collect food donations, deliver them to Fairgrove UMC ahead of distribution, stock the shelves, shop for groceries, pack food boxes, register clients, and safely escort all donated items out to clients’ cars.

Every month, we set a menu that includes a variety of shelf-stable items like canned vegetables, fruit, soup, pasta, rice, dried beans, and baking mixes. Monetary donations allow us to purchase anything missing from the donations, along with two fresh meats per box. We also partner with local farmers to distribute fresh eggs whenever available and provide seasonal vegetables in the summer months.

The Monroeton Fire Department regularly joins us at our monthly distributions to speak with clients about smoke alarms for their homes. They set up appointments and install them at no cost.

In addition, we often display flyers for clothing giveaways, Bible studies, Children’s events, etc. scheduled at any of the churches in the area.

If you feel led to support the Community Food Pantry, you may:

  • Bring nonperishable foods to any of the churches mentioned above. For your convenience, a monthly list of food needs is published in each church’s newsletter.
  • We also welcome donations of clothing, household goods, and toiletries. These items are displayed at each monthly distribution and offered at no cost to our clients.
  • If you would prefer to make a monetary donation, please make out a check to Fairgrove UMC and write “Food Pantry” on the memo line. Checks may be sent to our mailing address at P.O. Box 228, Browns Summit, NC 27214.

We appreciate your support and prayers as we seek to continue this vital ministry! Through God’s grace, we are given the privilege of loving and helping our neighbors in need. Let’s rise to the occasion and become instruments of divine compassion in our community!

The information in the photo above is a good reference for any local community members in need of the support our food pantry ministry provides.
